PeyserPoem: Many Southern Californians Are Unhappy With Library Cutbacks

PeyserPoem: Many Southern Californians Are Unhappy With Library Cutbacks

My local library in Altadena
Is a bustling, happening place.
Reducing any library’s hours
Is nothing short of a disgrace.

Why can’t businesses donate money?
And then we’ll see signs up that say,
“This library still has regular hours
Thanks to the good folks at Frito-Lay.”

This isn’t such a wild idea for our city
To perhaps try and to do.
If memory serves, there are lots of ads
Over at the Los Angeles Zoo.
